Hey Swaay Sisters!
Will you please tell us about your journey, and how you came to start Love Story yoga studios here in the Bay Area? I have taught yoga in the bay area for over 20 years, coming and going from guest teaching all over the world. Ive always been so grateful to the Bay Area community that has supported me and allowed me to grow as a teacher for so many years. So when I saw that there was a need for a strong community home base that could serve the teachers and students in a unique way- I knew it was time to found that kind of yoga homebase and that is how Love Story Yoga came to life. That was in 2016 when we opened our first location in San Francisco and last year we opened our second beautiful location in Marin, CA. It has been a full, formative, and incredibly fulfilling experience ever since then!
With everything you have going on, what do you enjoy most about what you do? The thing I enjoy most about teaching yoga is having the opportunity to witness how yoga supports, evolves, and heals. It is a very privileged position to be the teacher in the room. Being able to participate in such a profound process is really a gift.
You have taught yoga all over the globe… What are some of your favorite locations? I love Amsterdam and London! The students there are genuine, excited, and earnest. Its always an incredible experience. Im headed back to Triyoga in London March 17-19 this year!
When you aren’t “working”, how do you like to spend your time? I spend most of my time with my sons Wolfgang and Soren and our dog Slayer. Anytime I can be outdoors hiking, relaxing on the beach or swimming in the ocean I am in my happy place.
Your Love Flows class claims to have a “killer playlist”... We are all about that. What music are you listening to right now? Music is such a huge part of the vibe at Love Story Yoga. Some of my favorite music comes from Talos, Oliver Riot, Novo Amor, Phoria, Ocie and Elliot, and Stu Larson.
What about books or podcasts - any recommendations? Most of the books I read are yoga philosophy (on repeat!) and my longtime favorite is the version of the Bhagavad Gita called ‘The Living Gita’. There are so many great podcasts. Im obsessed with Huberman Lab, Armchair Expert, and of course my dear friend Andrea Ferretti's pod called YogaLand.
Do you have a favorite Swaay piece, and what do you like most about it?
My Swaay overalls are beyond. The fabric is SO soft, wearable and never loses its shape so I can hike in them, do yoga in them, run around town in them. And I dont know how you managed to design the absolute perfect cut, it hits in all the right places to be incredibly flattering and comfortable. I live in them!
Thank you so much Stephanie for being a Swaay Sister, and having us feature you in our Swaay Story Blog.
Everyone be sure the check out Love Story Yoga. It's by far our favorite yoga studio in the Bay Area!
